SPIN Silk Conference in Santa Fe 2010

The 2010 Silk Painters International Conference ( was a success! This year the program was shortened to a week with 3 days of workshops. There were workshops for beginners to various techniques, including a two-day shibori workshop by Yoshiko Wada. I will post more about her de-gumming workshop later, but just to let you know, Day 1 of arrival was a reception held at a gallery on Canyon Road in Santa Fe.

Days 2-4 were 3 days of workshops all held at the IAIA campus. The dorms were clean, quiet, with an A/C and personal bathroom/shower - like a hotel but no TV. TV, free computer use are all located in the common space with the kitchen and microwave. This is a great setup when taking all day workshops. Just walk out of the dorm to the classroom building. Three meals are included in a package price, so no cooking, no cleaning, no driving to restaurants. Just eat and leave.

The last two days were full of lectures, presentations, a panel discussion, 1/2 day free time to explore Santa Fe. I'll post more about these later.

For now, check the SPIN website and plan on coming in 2012.
open skies, beautiful colors, great weather
